TW: carnivorous horses, fighting horses The sun was already high in the sky, yet it was surprisingly cool in the small gorge through which Orca was walking. Ferns grew all around him and a small stream gurgled beside him. By now, he was used to being alone. In fact, it had been a long time since he had last seen another horse. That was fine with him. His limbs felt strange, as if an illness was brewing. And he was irritable. So it was time to find a nice place where he could stay and rest for a while. But at the same time, testosterone-loaded energy was bubbling through his body. It was an irritating mixture. Snorting, the black and white stallion stopped and began to pluck at a few juicy blades of grass. The steady chewing movements calmed his frazzled nerves somewhat. Suddenly there was a soft rustling sound. Orca raised his head and spotted a rabbit, which must have had the same idea as him. Satisfied with himself, Orca lowered his head and plucked a few blades of grass from the shade of a nearby bush. The plants here were greener and felt softer under his hooves than they had been on the plain he had crossed yesterday. He had arrived in this valley at dawn today and had decided to rest here for a while. Although the growth of bushes and scattered trees increased the likelihood of predators approaching unnoticed, there was enough food to take the risk. So the black and white stallion raised his head again as he chewed and scanned his surroundings with his eyes. He knew that he shouldn't feel too safe, because he was now alone. His heart tightened a little at the thought, but he quickly tried to shake off the feeling. Suddenly there was a rustling sound. Orca pricked up all four ears and turned his head, but couldn't see anything. Another rustle, followed by footsteps. Somewhere nearby.
